9 Things Couples Forget To Do Before Their Wedding Day
You’ve been preparing for this day for months and have every last detail planned out and ready to go--from the programs, to the napkin folds, to your grand entrance song, you can’t be forgetting anything, right? We created a list of Must Dos you can take care of right before wedding day to ensure no last minute wedding flubs.
1. Tell your family members that there is reserved seating for them at the ceremony. Too often, some family that you expected to see in the first two rows while you tie the knot will be put off by the “Reserved” sign, thinking that the seats are meant for other family members and not them. Also, have someone run mom’s purse down to her seat before processional so she doesn’t end up carrying it down the aisle!
2. Let your extended family know that they will be in your photos. Much like with the reserved seating at ceremony, make sure you let all the extended family you want in photos know to wait after ceremony for photos. You can have your officiant remind family to stay behind after your recessional. There have been many times when we search for Aunt Mary during cocktail hour, which can be tricky since we’ve never met her before!
3. If you are having a friend officiate who has never done it before, remind them to add a line about asking guests to sit after the bride comes down the aisle. Guests will continue to stand after your entrance until they are told not to!
4. Order lunch in advance. Plan out what you are having for lunch and where it is coming from before wedding day. Does someone need to pick it up, or can it be delivered? We always suggests a fruit tray and small sandwiches. It’s important to eat, but you will want to avoid heavy foods.
5. Set out details for your photographer. Gather your rings, jewelry, invitation suite, and any other small, sentimental items for your photographer to shoot when they arrive. A clean room will always make for better photos, so tuck away your suitcase and post-wedding brunch outfit.
6. Tell your planner your room number as soon as you check in to your hotel. She can pass this information on to your beauty team and photographer so you aren’t getting calls in the morning. Try to get multiple room keys if you can, which will prevent your planner from having to borrow yours for the day.
7. Finalize where you want everything to go at the end of the night. Is your planner taking it all with her, or are we putting it in mom’s car? Make sure mom knows if her car is going to be a part of the plan!
8. Work out your transportation if you didn’t book a limo. Do you want to use a driving service to get to the venue and back at the end of the night? If mom is driving you there, who will take you and your husband home at the end of the night? Luckily, you can reserve an Uber in advance, or have your planner request one for you.
9. Create a list of names of everyone who will wear a boutonniere or corsage. This will help your planner and florist find who that last boutonniere belongs to before ceremony.
These are small details that are easy to slip through the cracks, but communication goes a long way on wedding day, and the better prepared your family, vendors, and you are, the better you will feel!
