Honeymoon & Passports
We suggest applying for or renewing your passport at least 4 months prior to your wedding date (although the passport office says 8 weeks). Some countries require your passport to be valid 6 months past your travel dates so check on these details early. Be sure to use a good photo when renewing or applying for a passport, as bad photos are the most common cause of application denial.
Applying online and mailing in your documents is the easiest option. You can also visit a local passport office if you do not want to mail your documents, or if you need it on a quicker timeline. If you are applying for a passport for the first time, you must apply in person.
We suggest waiting to change your name on your passport until after your honeymoon as it is likely all of your travel was booked using your maiden name. It is also best to wait until after your honeymoon (if traveling relatively soon after your wedding) to change your name with any agency. It will make travel a lot easier.
