A Guide to Look and Feel Your Best on Your Big Day
Amongst all the planning that needs to get done, it’s easy to forget to take care of yourself. Throughout the planning process, you want to feel and look your best. One of the best ways to achieve this is through a steady and effective workout routine that will result in you and your soon-to-be spouse feeling like a million bucks. One important thing to remember before you get started is that you are already beautiful just the way you are. The purpose of working out should not always be to lose weight, but it can be used to achieve plenty of mental health benefits such as reducing anxiety, stress and improve self-esteem. Overall, these fitness tips are here to help you and yours feel the most confident on your wedding day and beyond.
First off, if you are already in a set workout routine -great, keep it up! Please continue reading for additional tips on how to see more results as your day approaches. If you are currently looking to start your fitness journey, then welcome! Do not be afraid of what lies ahead because we have tips on finding the perfect regimen to compliment your lifestyle; making it as easy to implement and stick to as possible.
When setting time aside for your workouts, it may be best to plan your week in advance. The sweet spot for exercise is 3-5 times a week. Note: if you are just getting into your exercise routine, start slow! Do not push yourself too hard as you may be putting your body at risk of injury. Ease into your plan to ensure the best transition into your new, active lifestyle. Something important to point out- rest days are just as important as the days you are hitting the gym so please take these seriously and give your body time to recuperate. This is definitely something that people tend to forget!
Our next tip when creating your workout plan is to find something you truly enjoy. The key to this: try, try, try. Whether you find a personal trainer, experiment with different group fitness classes, try out equipment on your own or even carry your soon to be spouse up and down mountains, this phase is all about realizing your fitness interests. Once you have found what you truly enjoy, it will be much easier to stick with.
As the time passes and you’re in this new groove of exercising, it is time to mix up your routine a bit. One way to switch up your routine is to introduce progressions. Our bodies start to familiarize themselves with the workouts that we tend to do the most so it is important to always keep the body guessing. Different ways to keep the body on its toes are to increase elements such as weight, reps, sets, and even workout time. Another way to mix it up is to change up the workouts you’re doing. Whether that’s trying a new class or even taking your workouts to a different space like exercising outside, your body will reap the benefits of the switch up.
Something to keep in mind is that change never happens overnight. If one of your goals is to lose weight or tone up, do not be discouraged if this takes longer than anticipated. Along with this, do not obsess over seeking results, they will come. Be patient and stick with it! Weight is not necessarily a measure of health and health is the most important thing.
Once you have finally made it to the day, be proud of yourself for sticking with your routine and creating a more healthy lifestyle. I want to emphasize that your journey does not expire once you exchange your “I dos.” I encourage you to continue exercising, keep trying new things, be patient, and you and your spouse will start your journey together as loving and healthy partners.
