Starting Your Wedding Stationery Journey with Simple Save The Dates

You’re engaged, you’ve booked your venue, and have a date (can you all stop asking now!?).

What’s next? Save the Dates!

Assuming you created your final guest list before you booked your venue like you should have, then keep reading! If not, then that’s your next step. 😉

Traditionally, your stationery set the tone and formality of your wedding for your guests. While it is nice to have your save the dates match your invitations which match your day-of printing, the save the date is often the opportunity to be a bit less formal and fun. Most couples enjoy including a photo in their save the dates to show just how perfect you two are together. Plus, maybe Aunt Edna doesn’t realize you’re not 15 anymore!

While we love ourselves some fancy stationery, today we’re talking all about simple save the dates and save the date photo cards. They are the perfect option for customization, personalization, and some fun!

Tips from the Pros:

  1. Double and triple check your guest list- If you send a save the date, you can’t uninvite them later. If you are unsure whether you want to invite someone, skip the save the date.

  2. Double, triple, and quadruple check your spelling before ordering- Read sentences/phrases backwards and have someone not involved in the wedding review them.

  3. Include your wedding website if you have one- That brings us to another reminder! Complete your wedding website and registry before mailing these out.

  4. What to include- Your names, the city your venue is located in, the date (obvi), and your wedding website.

  5. When ordering, you do not need one for every person on your guest list, only one per household. This is a common mistake and will leave you with lots of extras!

  6. On that point, order extras- They will get lost in the mail, the dog will eat them, and mom will most certainly add more names to your guestlist.

  7. Send your save the dates out between 6 and 9 months before your wedding. Anything earlier than that and your guests tend to lose it.

  8. When choosing a photo, try to pick one where you can see both of your faces. Your favorite photo may be epic, but your guests will love to see the two of your faces.

We know you all love the clear, acrylic save the dates and wedding invitations, as do we. Utilizing this material in your save the dates is more cost effective than your wedding invitations because there aren’t any other inserts or cards you need to include!
