How Wedding Planning IRL is Different than the Movies

Wedding movies are fun to watch but are usually filled with inaccuracies. Scripts are filled with well-meaning friends, family, and professional planners who bring more chaos than help to their couples-to-be. Thankfully, wedding planning in the real world is different than the big screen. Here is a list of our favorite movie wedding planners and how we are different (and better!)

The Wedding Planner

When you think a wedding planner, 80 percent of the time, you probably think of J-Lo in The Wedding Planner. She is put-together, professional, and handles every situation calmly. In many ways, our lead planners are similar: ready to help your day run smoothly and prepared to handle any issues that arise. We can help ensure your wedding matches your expectations, and, most importantly, we promise not to fall in love with your fiance.

Father of the Bride

Out of this entire list, Franck Eggelhoffer, the wedding planner from Father of the Bride, is our favorite. Sure, he is loud and a little annoying. But he’s also lovable, personable, and worked hard to make sure the day was everything Annie wanted and more. As wonderful as he is, he went overboard with the budget, driving George Banks crazy. While ATOB planners work as hard as Franck, we are here to prevent the chaos and keep you in-budget. If a huge wedding is your dream, we can get you there without sacrificing your financial goals.

Bride Wars

Liv and Emma hire Marion St. Claire, a famous planner who’s apparently one of the best. But somehow, she scheduled three weddings she’s working on the same day, at the same place. We would never. Our planners also make sure that your wedding is the only one we’re focusing on that day. We have several amazing lead planners who can give you individual and personal attention and make your celebration exactly what you need, whether your best friend is involved or not.

27 Dresses

She’s the planner and the bridesmaid. It’s probably not the best of ideas. A bridesmaid should be a fun job that lets you spend time with your best friend and help them celebrate their special day. Let us worry about logistics so you and your bridesmaids (or groomsmen) can focus on the fun. Not to mention, we, as your wedding planners, would never purposely sabotage your rehearsal dinner. We are here to make sure that each part of your event runs smoothly, giving you more time to enjoy the day.

Bridesmaids

Bridesmaids is another example of why you shouldn’t have your wedding party plan your outings. Of course, your girls can do a great job at throwing a bachelorette party, but don’t need the pressure of stepping in as wedding planners. Your bridesmaids are there to support and encourage you, not to compete over who has better planning skills. By turning the details and responsibilities over to us, you can help foster peace within your bridal party and have an amazing experience filled with laughter and love.
