Getting Your Marriage License

A couple things to keep in mind:

  • The Colorado marriage license fee is $30- see county for payment information.

  • Pay attention to whether the office will accept payment in cash only, or cash/credit card.

  • Pick up your license between your wedding day (although we don’t suggest that) and 35 days prior.

  • The license must be returned to the county office for recording within 63 days of marriage. The license can either be mailed in or dropped off at the county office. Often times, your officiant or church will take care of this for you.

  • You can apply for the license online or in person but in general, you will need to go into the office to pick up your license.

  • You can obtain your license in any county in Colorado- it does not have to be where you live or are getting married.
